Refresher course for industrial self-propelled forklift truck operators

Workers operating industrial self-propelled forklift trucks (forklifts), pursuant to the Accordo Stato-Regioni of 22/02/2012, must complete a refresher course within 5 years from the date of issue of the qualification certificate.

Course objectives

The objective of the course is to provide workers with updated training in order to maintain their qualification to operate industrial self-propelled forklift trucks.

Target participants

The course is aimed at workers operating industrial self-propelled forklift trucks who already hold the qualification according to the Accordo Stato-Regioni of 22/02/2012.

Course duration

The course lasts 4 hours.

Programme

• Course presentation;
• Types and characteristics of various internal transport vehicles;
• General forklift components;
• Other types of forklifts;
• Main risks associated with the use of self-propelled forklifts;
• Signage;
• Personal protective equipment;
• Basic notions of physics;
• Equilibrium conditions;
• Battery charging systems;
• Active and passive protection systems;
• Control and safety devices;
• Checks and maintenance;
• Handling procedures;
• Safe driving;
• Controls and transport;
• Temporary parking;
• Illustration of components and safety features;
• Daily and periodic maintenance and checks.

Trainers

The trainers involved in the forklift refresher course are experts in occupational health and safety with at least three years of practical professional experience in industrial self-propelled forklift truck operating techniques; they also hold the qualifications required by the Accordo Stato-Regioni of 21 December 2011, official records no. 221/CSR, and meet the criteria set out in the Interministerial Decree of 6 March 2013.

Training materials

Each participant will receive course materials on CD, containing useful documents for use and reading to complement the training received.

Final assessment and certifications

Following successful completion of the final test, each participant will be issued a certificate of attendance and a qualification licence.
